Yisel Covarrubias
Communications, Engagement, and People's Priorities Chair
Yisel Covarrubias was raised by immigrant parents in Imperial Valley, CA, minutes away from the U.S./Mexico border. Growing up in a rural community while experiencing medical issues as a child, gave her a deep empathy and desire to help other communities suffering similar socio-economic barriers in access to healthcare.
Covarrubias graduated magna cum laude from Concordia University Texas, with a bachelors in global public health and minor in political science. Her passion for public policy grew through her time working in the Texas Senate and Texas House of Representatives, during the 86th and 87th Legislative Sessions. Covarrubias holds a Master’s in Public Health from UTHealth and is currently studying law at the University of Arkansas Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law. She intends to pursue a career in music, intellectual property, and public policy.
