We are having a statewide election on November 8th 2022!
If you want to vote in the upcoming election, your registration must be received by October 11th 2022. You can check your registration here.
To be eligible to register to vote in Texas, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen,
- Be a resident of the county where you submit your voter registration application,
- Be at least 17 years and 10 months old, and turning 18 by the date of the election,
- Not have been declared “non-compos mentis” or “mentally incompetent” by a court of law, &
- Not have been convicted of a felony, or have been convicted but have had your rights restored.*
In Texas you need to have at least one of the following forms of valid IDs* in order to vote. Acceptable forms of ID are:
- Texas Driver License
- Texas Personal ID
- Citizenship or Naturalization Certificate
- Texas Handgun License
- U.S. Military ID
- U.S. Passport (book or card)
- Texas Election Certificate

If you do not have any of the above forms of ID, you have the right to request a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and present any one of these alternative forms of identification:
- Birth Certificate
- Current Utility Bill
- Government Check
- Paycheck
- Bank Statement
- Any other government document with your name and address (including a voter registration certificate)
In order to vote in the November 8th 2022 election, you must be registered to vote at least 30 days before the election, or by October 11th 2022.

If you have moved since you registered to vote you can fill out this form on the Secretary of State website to change the address of your registration.

You can find your polling place using this Vote.Org tool here 2-4 weeks before the election.
You can also use this Texas Secretary of State Voter Portal Tool to find your polling place as early as 2 days before early voting begins on October 24th.
The upcoming statewide election is taking place on November 8th 2022. All polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central Time on November 8th 2022. If you are voting in person on November 8th 2022 remember, anyone in line to vote by 7 p.m. is required under state law the opportunity to cast their ballot. Stay in line to vote your voice!
Early Voting for the November 8th statewide election begins October 24th 2022 and ends November 4th 2022.
If you are voting by absentee ballot your completed absentee ballot must be received by October 28th 2022. Visit the Texas Secretary of State’s website here to determine if you can request an absentee ballot.
If you are voting by mail your completed ballot must be postmarked by November 8th 2022 and received by 5:00 pm November 8th 2022.
In Texas, voters are only eligible to vote absentee/by mail in Texas with one of the following approved excuses:
- You are sick or disabled,
- You are 65 years or older on election day,
- You will be out of the county where you are registered during early voting and on Election Day,
- You are confined in jail, but are otherwise eligible to vote.
